About Us
The Massachusetts Highway Department and the University of Massachusetts Amherst are cooperating with the Federal Highway Administration in a federally funded project to create and maintain a Regional Traveler Information Center (RTIC) for the Pioneer Valley (MassTraveler). The center is located in the UMass Transit Operations facility on the UMass campus and collects, analyzes, and disseminates traffic, public transportation and tourism information for use by state and local agencies, private entities, and the general public. The initial focus of RTIC's operations has been on the Route 9/Coolidge Bridge corridor and Route 116/Sunderland Bridge, and is expanding into a comprehensive traveler information system for Hampshire and Franklin Counties. Eventually, RTIC will serve as the hub for coordinating and disseminating a broad range of traffic and travel information for all of Western Massachusetts.
This site is maintained by UMass faculty, staff, and students in the UMass Transportation Center. Questions or comments regarding the site can be directed to rtic@admin.umass.edu.
